Sumayyah Global Resources targets RM1 mln sales for 2021

KUALA LUMPUR, April 4-- Sumayyah Global Resources (SGR), a Bumiputera small and medium enterprise, is targeting sales of RM1 million for this year for its products, namely Ajwa Aliah dates, Safiyyah serunding (floss), Fateh Treats, and gift box.

Managing director Norlaila Yusuf said the target was based on encouraging demand, especially for Ajwa Aliah dates which were introduced on a large scale in January.

“Besides, SGR's success in recording total sales of two tonnes to date and gaining sales of up to six digits last month (March), despite the COVID-19 pandemic situation, also prompted us to set the target.

"We’ve found that most customers, who have placed orders for Ajwa Aliah dates, are in the age group of 50 to 70 years and those who know the difference between quality Ajwa dates or otherwise," she told Bernama after launching SGR's latest product, Fateh Treats and gift box, recently.

SGR, which was founded in 2016, with a capital of RM1,000, has experienced in selling various products online and the latest being Muslim-made products.

Norlaila said what differentiates SGR's Ajwa dates from Ajwa dates of other traders is the place where Ajwa Aliah dates are grown, which is in the Holy Land of Madinah, the best and good quality date cultivation area.

She said SGR is also targeting sales of three tonnes of Ajwa Aliah dates for the festive season.

"It’s undeniable, the demand for dates among the Malay/Muslim community usually increases comes Ramadan... So, with careful planning besides promotional campaigns that we would do later to popularise the products widely, we assure consumers of sufficient supplies of SGR dates.

"The latest, we will be promoting SGR products on the 'Assalammualaikum' talk show on Al-Hijrah TV at 8am on April 10," she said.

The price of Ajwa Aliah dates starts from RM32 to RM120 depending on the size, whether of mix size or that of VIP, while the price of Safiyyah serunding starts from RM42 to RM89 per packet of 500 grammes.
