‘Makcik Petir’ had last wish of breaking fast with extended family - Son

JOHOR BAHRU, April 7 -- Drama actress, the late Noryati Taib who died earlier today had planned to gather her extended family at her house in Taman Air Biru, Pasir Gudang, on the first day of Ramadan, to break fast together.

Noryati’s third child, Faizul Hafiz Hashim, 36, said however, his mother’s final wish which she conveyed in late February, after being discharged from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Sultan Ismail Hospital, here, due to kidney complications, was not fulfilled when she died at 1.45 am.

“Usually, our extended family, including mama’s (Noryati) siblings break our fast together on the first day of Ramadan at our family ancestral home in Kampung Datuk Sulaiman Menteri, Majidee, here.

“However, due to her health condition, my late mother intended to invite the whole family to break fast at our house,” he said when met by reporters after the funeral of his mother at the Kebun Teh Muslim Cemetery, here today.

Faizul Hafiz said Noryati,who was also known as ‘Makcik Petir’, had once voiced her intention to quit acting.

He said his late mother complained of being unwell at about 12 midnight, before experiencing shortness of breath.

Noryati had her husband Hashim Mohd Yusoff, 65, and their youngest child Ezzahani Hashim, 31, by her side, when she breathed her last.

Earlier, funeral prayers were held at the Al-Ittihad Mosque, Perjiranan 9, Taman Air Biru, before Noryati, 63, was laid to rest at the Kebun Teh Muslim Cemetery at about 11.30am.

In early Feb, the media reported that Noryati, who had acted in many dramas, including Sindarela, SyurgaMu Ramadan, Dotty and Tari Tirana, tested positive for COVID-19 and later recovered after being treated at the Permai Hospital.

In Sept 2017, Noryati, who had her leg amputated due to diabetes, had to be admitted to the Sultan Ismail Hospital, due to lung infection.
