Iswami president Abdul Rashid Yusof said the 90-minute forum titled Harnessing 24-Hour Global Journalism on the Palestinian Issue  among others will see how 24/7 journalism in different time zones can collectively provide an endless big picture of the Palestinian crisis.

He said the guests will provide inputs accompanied by visuals that could also help shape public opinion on the long standing Palestinian issue and also on the much needed peaceful solution.

The discourse will also look into the possibility of collaborating with the local media there for news exchange that provides first hand information based on Palestinian perspectives in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.

Abdul Rashid added the news exchange could be achieved through a simple outlet such as through Whatsapp and ultimately the setting up of Press Centre on Palestine.

Among the Malaysian media representatives expected at the forum are media veterans Tan Sri Johan Jaafar and Datuk Chamil Wariya, Bernama's CEO Datuk Mokhtar Hussain, former Group Editor Harian Metro Tuan Mohamad Asri Tuan Hussein.

The recent tensions that started in East Jerusalem in the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and spread to Gaza after Palestinian fighters there vowed to retaliate against Israeli assaults on the Al-Aqsa Mosque and Sheikh Jarrah if they were not halted.

Israel occupied East Jerusalem, where Al-Aqsa is located, during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war. It annexed the entire city in 1980 in a move never recognised by the international community.
