JKNJ ISSUES 15 COMPOUNDS TO RAMADAN BAZAAR OWNERS, OPERATORS

AYER HITAM: The Johor Health Department (JKNJ) has issued 15 compound notices to owners and operators of food premises at Ramadan bazaars for not complying with the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009.

State Health and Unity Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said the notices were issued to 2,009 premises during the first week of the fasting month in Johor.

He said, despite the notices issued, the JKNJ was still satisfied with the level of cleanliness in each bazaar in the state with an average score of more than 80 per cent, adding that no premises were ordered to close. 

Ling said this during a walkabout programme for Food Safety and Quality Activities at the Bandar Baru Ayer Hitam Ramadan bazaar here today.

SALESWOMAN LOSES RM55,250 TO ONLINE JOB SCAM

KUALA LUMPUR -- A saleswoman suffered a loss of RM55,250 after giving out her personal and banking details on a job search link on Tuesday.

Kuala Lumpur Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) chief ACP Mohd Mahidisham Ishak said the 32-year-old victim received a message via the WhatsApp application from an unknown number offering jobs online.

"Believing the job offer to be true, the victim registered through the link provided and had filled in her personal and banking information for registration purposes.

"On the same day, the victim received an SMS notification from the bank that RM55,250 had been withdrawn from her account," he said in a statement today. The victim then lodged a police report yesterday after realising she had been cheated, he added.

VIRAL VIDEO: PROBE UNDERWAY ON CLAIMS OF COPS EXTORTING SINGAPOREAN

KUALA LUMPUR -- Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Noor Dellhan Yahaya said a detailed investigation is underway into allegations that cops in a patrol car (MPV) had extorted a Singaporean man.

The alleged incident went viral on Facebook recently, and the investigation was carried out as soon as tweets and videos regarding the incident were spread.

“Individuals who have information related to the incident are asked to come forward with the information to help in the investigation.

“They can contact ASP Jaya Dalloh, head of Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (BIPS) at 014-6396758, Dang Wangi police headquarters at 03-26002222, Kuala Lumpur police hotline (03-21159999) or the nearest police station,” he added.
