MELAKA KPDNHEP WARNS BUTCHERS AGAINST BEEF PRICE HIKE FOR RAYA

MELAKA: The Melaka Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) has reminded butchers to not take advantage of Hari Raya Aidilfitri to increase the price of beef above the selling price set in the 2022 Hari Raya Aidilfitri Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (SHMMP).

State Unity, Information, Human Resource and Consumer Affairs Committee chairman Ngwe Hee Sem said KPDNHEP will not compromise on this, and traders who fail to adhere to the rules would be issued with compounds.

"Usually two days or a day before Aidilfitri, there will be traders who sell local beef for the festival only but they too are reminded not to increase the selling price on their own accord but to sell it at the set price of RM39 per kilogramme (kg).

"Although we have not received any public complaints, our enforcement team will monitor the situation at markets as well as roadside stalls," he told reporters after officiating at the state-level SHMMP at a shopping mall in Ayer Keroh here today.
