Aman Palestin Channels Aid Directly To Palestine - Ceo

BANGI, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- Aman Palestin Bhd, a non-profit organisation dedicated to aiding the Palestinian people, is channelling aid and donations directly from the public to Palestinian people through its local office there.

Aman Palestin chief executive officer Awang Suffian Awang Piut said the organisation’s office in Gaza, which has been operating since 2009, serves as a collection centre for relief items before they are distributed to recipients.

“We deliver aid directly to the Palestinians without going through the Palestinian Embassy in Malaysia. We also ensure that all relief projects adhere to the stipulated standard operating procedures and specific protocols.

“We have our own office in Palestine to enable swift delivery of aid to Gaza, the West Bank and other areas in need,” he told a press conference here today.

Regarding aid distribution in Baitulmaqdis and the West Bank, he said the organisation has representatives managing assistance in those areas, who are also under the supervision and monitoring of Aman Palestin’s office in Gaza.

Awang Suffian said earlier this month, Aman Palestin has channelled RM3 million comprising financial aid, hot meals, medicine and the procurement of two ambulances to be donated to the Palestinian people.

It has also completed 13 infrastructure projects in Palestine, in addition to distributing aid through its annual campaigns such as ‘Ramadan Bersamamu’, ‘Ibadah Korban di Bumi Anbia’, Winter Aid, ‘Bread for Love’ and Kafalah Monthly Sponsorship (for orphans, poor families, single mothers and educational funding).

“Through these campaigns, tens of millions of ringgit have been distributed annually without fail, covering beneficiaries not only in Palestine but also Palestinian refugees in Syria, Lebanon and Yemen,” he said.

Since its establishment in 2006, Aman Palestin has spearheaded over 56 humanitarian missions to physically distribute aid and visit project sites or ongoing Aman Palestin programmes in Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Turkiye, Bangladesh and Indonesia.

“We have also led a volunteer mission to Gaza consisting of 121 people in 2012. At the time, the border restrictions were not as tight as they are today.

“All the volunteers involved can see Aman Palestin’s aid distribution for themselves and witnessed the Palestinian people’s plight. Our hope is that upon returning to Malaysia, they can share their experience with the people in the country,” he said.

In the meantime, Awang Suffian expressed disappointment over allegations that Aman Palestin failed to channel public donations to Palestine, which tarnishes the organisation’s image.

He said that despite issuing media statements to refute such claims, these issues kept coming up every year and every time there was a conflict in Palestine.

Meanwhile, Aman Palestin general manager (marketing) Muhd Farhan Muhd Fadhil said it has launched the Winter Aid campaign earlier this month to be distributed to the people of Palestine, Syria and Yemen.

“Aman Palestin is determined to collect as many donations as possible and to distribute food packs, heaters and kerosene, winter equipment and clinical assistance,” he said, adding that Aman Palestin plans to send the aid mission to Syria in mid-December.
