Umno Channels Rm1 Million To Humanitarian Aid To Gaza

KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Bernama) -- UMNO channelled a contribution of RM1 million to the Malaysian Consultative Council for Islamic Organisations (MAPIM) for Malaysia's 100-Container Emergency Humanitarian Aid Mission to Gaza, Palestine.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, in a Facebook post today, expressed hope that the donation can help the Palestinian people, as they are observing Ramadan month and the upcoming Syawal.

“Currently, we can see in the media, that our brothers and sisters in Palestine are going through severe suffering and difficulties due to the brutality of the Zionist army.

“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the contributors, especially UMNO members. May Allah reward those involved as much as possible and I pray that every donation will benefit the Palestinian people as much as possible,” he said.

Since the cross-border attack on Oct 7 last year, more than 32,500 Palestinians have been killed and more than 74,900 others injured amid widespread destruction and shortages of essential goods.

The Israeli army has also imposed a blockade on the Gaza Strip, leaving a large part of the population, especially those in the north, on the brink of starvation.
