KANGAR, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) of Perlis will increase the supply of mature coconuts by 5,000 through two deliveries per month as part of its initiative for Ramadan next month.
Perlis FAMA director Mohd Anzara Azizan said it had implemented the initiative since Wednesday to ensure the supply and price stability of mature coconuts, with the Perlis FAMA operations centre receiving 3,000 coconuts for the early stage of the intervention plan.
He added that the state FAMA operations centre would receive the coconuts from the Simpang Pulai operations centre, which has been made the north zone collection centre.
"The supply received will be distributed to the 24 FAMA marketing outlets, namely Agrobazaar Kedai Rakyat and Agrobazaar Rakyat as well as six 'santan’ entrepreneurs statewide.
"FAMA will collaborate with industry players to ensure the supply chain of coconuts remains sustainable and can meet the needs of consumers in Perlis,” he said in a statement today.
