KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Bernama) -- Takaful Ikhlas General Bhd (Takaful Ikhlas), a wholly-owned subsidiary of MNRB Holdings Bhd, with the cooperation of the Kelantan Council of Royal Chieftains distributed Ramadan aid to selected asnaf (tithe recipients) in the state recently.

Through the programme, Takaful Iklhas distributed RM40,000 from the business zakat wakalah (representative) to 150 poor families in 10 districts in the state to help them prepare for the fasting month.

It said in a statement today, each asnaf received necessities worth RM100 and RM200 in cash, adding that recipient criteria were set by the Kelantan Islamic Religious Council (MAIK).

“We at Takaful Ikhlas always care and empathise with the less fortunate.  We hope that this contribution can help ease the burden of the families involved and put a smile on their faces,” said Takaful Ikhlas president and chief executive officer Datuk Rudy Rodzila Che Lamin in the statement.

He said the Ramadan aid was one of the activities under the Ikhlas Barakah House, which is a shariah compliance fund collection initiative that aims to generate positive community development and sustainability through financial aid including activities involving the community that focus on the empowerment of five major areas namely education, economy, community, health and the environment.

“Takaful Ikhlas provided different essential items for each district.  Items were purchased under the coordination of the Kelantan Puspanita to ensure they were not the same items, on the instruction of the district officer,” he said adding that this was to ensure that the recipients receive the items that they need and also to avoid waste.
