PPJ increases crowd capacity for Putrajaya Ramadan Bazaar
PUTRAJAYA, April 4 (Bernama) -- The crowd capacity at the Putrajaya Ramadan Bazaar at Precinct 3 here has been increased to 2,250 at any one time starting today from only 1,250 on the first day of its operations yesterday.
Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) Licencing Division director Jeffri Mustapa said PPj had taken note of the complaints from the public who had to wait in a long queue to get their passes to enter the bazaar yesterday.
The entry pass system was introduced at the bazaar to avoid congestion and uncontrolled crowd.
“Starting today, 2,250 people be allowed to enter the bazaar through three entry points as soon as it begins operations at 3 pm every day, and the number may be increased if necessary,” he told Bernama when contacted.
According to Jeffri, the MySejahtera record showed that over 5,300 people flocked to the bazaar yesterday, surpassing the initial target of 3,000.
“We only prepared 1,250 passes (yesterday), but maybe because it was Sunday, people decided to come with their entire family members,” he said.
The situation also captured the attention of Deputy Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias who called on PPj to come out with a contingency plan to address the public complaint.
“Please facilitate the people, do not make it difficult.
“What’s important for me is for the people to be able to buy and enjoy their favourite dishes for breaking of fast. This is also an opportunity for the food sellers to sell their products after over two years not being able to do so due to the pandemic,” he tweeted today.
Bernama’s check at the bazaar at around 5 pm today found that there was no more a long queue of people waiting to enter the area at all three entry points.
