PEKAN, April 8 (Bernama) -- UDA Holdings Berhad (UDA), through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme UDA Cares, gave away Hari Raya Aidilfitri contribution of RM26,000 to orphans and tithe recipients here today.

UDA chairman Datuk Norliza Abdul Rahim said RM14,000 was contributed to the Women and Family Development Council (MPWK) of Pahang to be distributed to tithe recipients.

She said RM12,000, meanwhile, was allocated to 40 recipients comprising orphans and tithe recipients in the district, with each receiving RM300 Raya money and they were also taken to buy festive clothes.

“This is our initiative to share our blessings with the less well-to-do so that they can have more joy celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year.

“Programmes like this will be extended to other states which have UDA development projects, including Penang, Johor, Perak and Terengganu,” he told reporters after a Ramadan Thanksgiving ceremony organised by AnCasa Royale Pekan, a hotel belonging to UDA, here.

Also present were Group chief operating officer Asset Management of UDA Azrudyn Rashid and AnCasa Hotels & Resorts senior vice-president Shah Azam Khan.

Earlier, Norliza said in her speech that it could, through the programme, foster closer ties with the communities in the UDA business regions, in addition to introducing the UDA-owned hotel chain to local communities.

The CSR initiative, she added, was also in line with the concept of rebranding UDA, namely, “LIFE” which emphasises 'Legacy', 'Integrated', 'Finesse' and 'Enrich'.

“I believe that, with the rebranding, UDA will continue to play the role of creating an inclusive community in UDA's development and business regions and, together with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Co-operatives, produce more entrepreneur families capable of contributing to the nation's economic stability after the country entered the transition phase to endemic on April 1,” she said.

Meanwhile, Norliza said AnCasa Royale Pekan will also revitalise its business operations by offering various promotions, including its Ramadan buffet 'Poh Paleh Wey'.

“In addition, our hotel chain at AnCasa Residences Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan and Kuala Terengganu Golf Resort, Terengganu are also offering breaking of fast packages during Ramadan,” she added.
