KUALA TERENGGANU, April 22 (Bernama) -- Concerned with the plight of the underprivileged, the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) today presented donations to the residents of Pusat Pertubuhan Baitul Sakinah here through its “Ikhlas Ramadan” programme.

Bernama acting chief executive officer Roslan Ariffin said the donations in the form of food and essential needs are hoped to bring cheer to 28 residents of the welfare home.

“Today, 10 representatives from Bernama headquarters arrived in Terengganu to present the Ikhlas Ramadan contribution which could help the residents during the fasting month and to prepare for the Aidilfitri celebration.

“Items such as rice, cooking oil, food packs and towels were contributed by individuals and corporate companies,” he said when met at Pusat Pertubuhan Baitul Sakinah here.

Also present was Bernama Head of Broadcasting (TV and Radio) D.R Arul Rajoo.

Roslan said Bernama would strive to organise such programmes in the future so as to assist more people from the underprivileged group.

Besides Terengganu, he said Bernama would also visit other states to present donations in conjunction with Ramadan month and the festive season.

Meanwhile, Pusat Pertubuhan Baitul Sakinah manager Aqilah Alashari expressed her appreciation to the news agency for their concern.

“Thank you Bernama for coming from afar to hand over the donations. We hope that those who give this contribution will always be blessed,” she said.

According to Aqilah, the residents consisted of orphans, asnaf (those eligible for tithe) and the poor, aged between three and 18.
