YaPEIM allocates nearly RM2 million to help asnaf during Ramadan
MARANG, April 25 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YaPEIM) has allocated almost RM2 million to help asnaf (tithe recipients) nationwide in conjunction with Ramadan this year.
Its Board of Trustees chairman, Datuk Mohd Redza Shah Abdul Wahid, said until now, nearly 75 per cent of the allocation has been distributed to the eligible recipients, comprising single mothers, orphans and low-income families.
“We are distributing the contribution in stages nationwide and it is expected to be completed in the last week of Ramadan.
“Hopefully, this donation will bring festive cheer to the recipients ahead of the coming Aidilfitri celebrations,” he told reporters after handing over donations to 50 single mothers and orphans, here last night.
Also present were Terengganu police chief Datuk Rohaimi Md Isa and Marang district police chief DSP Mohd Zain Mat Dris.
In the meantime, Mohd Redza Shah said YaPEIM aims to renovate 100 houses nationwide through the Inspirasiku MyHAUS programme this year.
So far, he said 36 houses have been completed for target groups such as B40 families, single mothers, and orphans, involving an allocation of RM60,000.
“We will work closely with the state religious Islamic councils to identify those who are eligible to receive the assistance,” he said.
Meanwhile, Rohaimi said only 320 of the 3,200 officers and personnel attached to the state police contingent were allowed to go on holidays at any one time during Aidilfitri this year while the rest would be on duty as usual.
