Keluarga Malaysia Sales Programme to help residents of PPR, PA flats starting Aug 15
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- Starting Aug 15, the Federal Territories (FT) Ministry will organise the Keluarga Malaysia Sales Programme to help reduce the cost of living for the residents of people’s housing project (PPR) and public housing (PA) flats.
Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim said apart from complementing the decision made by the Special Task Force on Jihad Against Inflation, the programme, which would be held twice a week was also hoped to help the targetted group to purchase essential items at cheaper prices.
Apart from that, he said starting July 14, the FT Ministry has been organising the Jualan Rakyat MyGrocer@Wilayah programme once a week and offering groceries including chicken and eggs at cheaper prices, which had benefitted 147,000 residents at 61 PPR and PA flats in the city.
“The Jualan Rakyat MyGrocer@Wilayah is our effort to help the people cope with the rising cost of living by selling them chicken and eggs at subsidised prices.
“The subsidy given by the FT Ministry for this purpose within a month in Kuala Lumpur and Labuan alone amounted to RM581,000. We are giving a subsidy of RM3 for every purchase of a whole chicken and 50 sen for every 10 eggs,” he said during Question Time at the Dewan Negara sitting today.
As of Aug 5, he said 63,000 city dwellers had benefitted from the chicken and egg subsidy totalling RM221,536 provided by the ministry.
