Survey On Consumers' Response Towards Ramadan Bazaars
KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 (Bernama) --The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has carried out a survey to get feedback directly from traders regarding consumer response to Ramadan bazaar activities this year.
Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said the 10-day survey involved a total of 1,148 respondents representing Ramadan bazaar traders across the country.
"It involved Ramadan bazaars in urban areas, rural areas and Ramadan bazaars at the state level. This survey aimed at evaluating consumer response and looking at aspects of profit gained by traders.
"This survey also gathered information regarding their sales compared to their targets," he told a press conference at Parliament building today.
On the findings of the survey, Salahuddin said of the total number of respondents, 69 per cent of traders stated an increase in visitors at their premises while 31 per cent of traders gave feedback that there had been a decrease.
Salahuddin said 63 per cent of traders stated an increase in sales and a total of 70 per cent of traders stated that there was an increase in profit.
"The value of sales and profits earned by traders are affected by various factors such as type of food or drink, reasonable prices, weather, site rental costs and fluctuating raw material prices," he said.
Meanwhile, he said the ministry planned to collaborate with relevant ministries and agencies to enhance efforts in promoting the Ramadan bazaar in the future.
He also advised Ramadan bazaar traders to always comply with the rules, place price tags clearly and take care of the quality of the food sold.
