SHAH ALAM, March 14 (Bernama) -- The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) has allocated a total of RM40,700 to prepare 5,000 portions of bubur lambuk (rice porridge) for free distribution to its employees and the public during Ramadan.

PKNS Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Corporate) Suhaimi Kasdon said the distribution of bubur lambuk from Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, is part of the corporation's corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to assist the community under the PKNS Ramadan Kasih Programme.

"In addition to today, all these bubur lambuk will be distributed to the public and PKNS employees in specified portions during the upcoming distribution session on March 19.

For today, a total of 1,000 portions were distributed to its employees, while another 500 were given to the public," he told reporters during the launch of the PKNS Ramadan Kasih Bubur Lambuk here today.

Suhaimi said the tradition of distributing bubur lambuk has been held for over two decades as an annual activity during Ramadan, with PKNS Berhad Cooperative being responsible for coordinating the distribution.

He added that the distribution of bubur lambuk serves as PKNS' appreciation to the general public, especially visitors of the PKNS Complex who choose the shopping centre as their preferred location for Aidilfitri preparations.

During the same programme, PKNS also handed over contributions for the Ramadan Aid Package from PKNS, comprising basic necessities such as cooking oil, rice, sugar, canned sardines and soy sauce to 65 families among the visually impaired from the Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB).

Suhaimi shared that three more series of CSR initiatives under the PKNS Ramadan Kasih Programme will be carried out, including the Aidilfitri Contributions Ceremony to children the Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ukhuwah Anak Yatim/Miskin Daerah Sabak Bernam (UKHUWAH) together with Raja Muda Selangor on March 17.

This will be followed by an Iftar session with the homeless on March 18 and an Iftar session with PKNS to celebrate the children of UKHUWAH two days later, both to be held at the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC).

Such programmes provide PKNS with the opportunity to support and share blessings with various segments of society, including those less fortunate, he said.
