Pkns Fetes The Homeless As Part Of Ramadan Kasih Programme
KUALA LUMPUR March 18 (Bernama) -- The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) reached out to the less fortunate, including the homeless, as part of its ongoing Ramadan Kasih series in the federal capital today.
Its deputy chief executive officer (Corporate) Suhaimi Kasdon, said the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative aims to provide sustenance to those in need.
"The Ramadan Kasih Iftar Programme saw the distribution of 300 food packages to homeless individuals in the vicinity of Jalan Chow Kit today," he said.
“PKNS selected the homeless because we are aware that in today's economic climate, this vulnerable group is growing, particularly in major cities like Kuala Lumpur. Hence, extending assistance to them is not only recommended but also a significant aspect of our religious teachings," he told reporters here today.
Suhaimi said 30 PKNS volunteers helped distribute food and joined the homeless community in breaking their fast and performing Maghrib prayers.
He said for the previous three programmes PKNS provided assistance to residents of welfare homes and orphanges in Sabak Bernam district through a 'raya shopping' programme, donating Ramadan supplies to the visually impaired and distributing porridge (bubur lambuk) to the general public.
