KUALA LUMPUR, March 28 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) feted 87 students and orphans from the Malaysian Armed Forces Orphans Hostel and Tahfiz School (STAY ATM) in a breaking of fast event held at the school today.

MTA chief executive officer Mohd Radzuan Mohamed said the event, which was organised in collaboration with the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT), was part of MTA and takaful industry players efforts to fulfil their corporate social responsibility (CSR) obligations by sharing sustenance with people in need.

"The Ramadan CSR programme with the concept of 'Mahabbah Ramadan' this year also received full support from Etiqa Family Takaful Berhad with their 'wakalah zakat' funds to be distributed to the asnaf group," he said here today.

Earlier, he presented a Ramadan charity donation of RM10,000 to STAY ATM and duit raya (money) packets to school residents, which was witnessed by Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari.

In addition to caring for the needy and orphans in Ramadan, he said the MTA also emphasised financial literacy education in line with the Value-Based Intermediation for Takaful initiative in empowering the (Bank Negara Malaysia's) 2023-2026 Financial Inclusion Framework (to address remaining gaps) for all levels of society.

"The Takaful industry emphasises financial education and the importance of developing an inclusive financial ecosystem.

"Through this kind of programme, we can indirectly give awareness to the community about the importance of Takaful protection as one of the most important financial instruments in their financial management," he said.
