KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Bernama) -- The Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) has allocated RM75,000 to help 100 asnaf (eligible tithe recipients) in Kuala Lumpur, 100 in Labuan and another 50 in Putrajaya in their Raya preparations.

MAIWP chairman Syed Kamarulzaman Syed Kabeer said the programme, dubbed “Rahmah Ramadan MAIWP: Sumbangan Pakaian Dan Keperluan Raya”, enabled the recipients to purchase raya clothes, with each person receiving RM300.

“Donations in the form of clothes and Raya essentials demonstrate MAIWP’s concern, and hopefully it will help lessen their burden, allowing them to celebrate Aidilfitri in a more meaningful way.

“This programme is a yearly event by MAIWP, and insya-Allah it will continue,” he said after officiating the programme here today.

Also present were MAIWP chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Nizam Yahya and deputy chief executive officer (Management) Mohd Fauzi Abidin.

Meanwhile, Syed Kamarulzaman said MAIWP in collaboration with Yayasan Briged Sukarelawan Khidmat Negara (YBSKN) presented Raya contributions to 1,000 recipients at the Seri Semarak People's Housing Project (PPR) flats in Setapak here.

He said that the contributions consisted of 2,000 sets of Raya clothes, essential items and wet goods, involving an allocation of RM370,000.

“It is hoped that this aid will help ease the recipients’ financial burden and bring festive cheer to them,” he said.
