KUALA LUMPUR, March 21 (Bernama) -- The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council Zakat Collection Centre (PPZ-MAIWP) today launched a ‘Ramadan Anugerah Terindah’ (Ramadan is the best gift) campaign, aimed at encouraging Muslims, especially in the Federal Territories, to pay tithe (zakat) through the payment services and channels provided.

The PPZ-MAIWP, in a statement, said that various payment channels are available to make it easier for the public to fulfil their obligations, including through the PPZ-MAIWP Portal (fitrah.zakat.com.my) and 921 amil (tithe collectors) throughout the Federal Territories as well as at 10 PPZ-MAIWP counters in mosques and supermarkets.

Payment of zakat fitrah can also be made through online agents at 15 internet banking services, such as E-Wallet-Boost, Shopee, Tulus, GoPayz, The Noor, Raiz-Online Portal-senangPay, MyEG, PayHalal, MyPay, Elzar Shariah, Al Amin and MyVerify.

Property zakat payments can be made online and offline such as at the PPZ-MAIWP counter which is open seven days a week including public holidays from 8.15 am to 4.30 pm.

It can also be done through the zakat.com.my portal (count, pay, check), MyZakat Application, Monthly Zakat Deduction Scheme (PZB Scheme), while Mobile Zakat Counter, Ride2U and Digital Zakat Counter are specifically for payers seeking services in person and have no time to go to the counter.

According to the statement, appointments can be made at mytemujanji.zakat.com.my.

Cash waqf (endowment) payment can be made at the PPZ-MAIWP counter which is open all day including public holidays from 8.15 am to 4.30 pm, the wakafppz.com.my portal and mobile zakat and waqf counters.

The PPZ-MAIWP also offers more than 1,000 special attractive gifts as an incentive for zakat payers who pay property zakat, fitrah and cash waqf through the payment channels provided, including umrah packages, exclusive prayer sets, buruj watches (watches to tell prayer times), smartphones, iPads, food vouchers and more.

Accordingly, PPZ-MAIWP calls on all Muslim communities in the Federal Territory to seize the blessings of Ramadan by paying zakat at least 2.5 per cent of their accumulated wealth for the benefit of the poor, destitute and others otherwise classified as asnaf.

Apart from that, to further enliven the Beautiful Ramadan Campaign Award, PPZ-MAIWP also provides various interesting programmes and activities throughout Ramadan such as Vibe Ramadan Tadabbur Al-Quran, Conversations, Turun Padang Program, Praying Weapons of Believers and Interactive Zakat Quiz.
