KUALA LUMPUR, April 8 (Bernama) -- KPJ Healthcare Berhad (KPJ Healthcare) has collaborated with Saji Malaysia and Volvo Ingress Swede Automobile in conjunction with the ongoing Ramadan month this year to prepare and distribute bubur lambuk to several areas in the capital city.

KPJ Healthcare officer-in-charge Norhaizam Mohammad said around 15,000 packs of bubur lambuk will be distributed to those living around Bandar Tun Razak, Seri Serdang, Lembah Pantai and Titiwangsa, among other places, with a focus on the B40 category.

She said this programme was in line with KPJ Healthcare's promise of ‘Care for Life’, reflecting a blessed month for community gatherings, sharing and unity, as well as a time to renew one’s commitment to living a virtuous and charitable life.

“In this holy month of Ramadan, we want to reflect on our responsibility to the communities we are operating in and how we can help to elevate the livelihood of our patients, communities and the public.

“While the bubur lambuk is a signature dish during Ramadan, our collaborations with Saji and Volvo speaks volume of our commitment towards healthy living and doing it sustainably,” she told reporters when met at the distribution programme's flag-off ceremony at the National Mosque, here today.

Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil and Selangor Public Health, Unity, Women and Family Development committee chairman Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud were also present at the event.

As part of the partnership, Volvo provided seven electric vehicles, the XC60 Recharge, XC40 Recharge, XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, C40 Recharge Pure Electric and the V60 Recharge, to help distribute the packed bubur lambuk, while Saji sponsored ingredients and products.

Norhaizam added that around 200 volunteers from all of KPJ Healthcare's hospitals and education arms were involved in the preparation, which started as early as 2 am today.

“This initiative highlights KPJ Healthcare's commitment to building partnerships and collaborations to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and create a more equitable future for all.

“Our main responsibility as one of the biggest networks of specialist hospitals in the region is towards making people better in health and to ensure we are able to provide the best of care to our patients,” she added.
