Ramadan Buffet: Bertam Resort And Water Park Offers 150 Malay, Moroccan Dishes For Iftar

KEPALA BATAS, March 3  (Bernama) -- Bertam Resort and Water Park, a five-star Moroccan-themed water theme park and resort in Bertam, here, is offering a selection of 150 authentic Malay traditional dishes and Moroccan flavours for iftar (breaking of fast) this coming Ramadan.

 Themed Maharajan Al-At Am, the Ramadan buffet not only provides Moroccan specialties but also a variety of international menus for its diners, regardless of age, to choose from.

Maritime Waterfront Suites Sdn Bhd managing director Datuk Mohammed Iqbal S Habeeb Noohu said the hotel also presents a combination of traditional and Moroccan cuisine at 25 live-action stalls, each neatly arranged with Moroccan-inspired designs.

He said diners who come for the Ramadan buffet at the Bertam Resort and Water Park will not only get to choose from the huge spread of food,  but they can also watch the chefs preparing the food at the 25 stalls.

"From the aromatic and delicious dishes of Selera Mak Tok to the crunchy snacks at Kudapan Krupp Krapp and the warmth of Lahar Kepar Soup to the timeless flavours of Heritage, each stall offers a unique culinary journey that showcases the best of our culinary heritage.

"Also served will be the all-time favourite Moroccan dishes of our guests such as laham (kharouf), mhamar maghribi b 25 baharat wa harissa, which is mutton marinated with 25 traditional Moroccan spices and Harissa, rice with mandy chicken, goley yellow lamb, om ali and banana kunafa," he said here last night.

He was met after the introduction of the hotel’s iftar dishes for the Ramadan Buffet here last night, which was also attended by Bertam Resort and Water Park ambassador, celebrity, Datuk Aznil Nawawi, better known as Pak Nil.

Mohammed Iqbal said there will also be a huge spread of desserts such as “serawa durian pulau with Bengali bread, bread pudding with orange toffee syrup and coconut and dates pannacotta with chocolate fondue.

"All of our menus are selected from among the best with a variety of dishes, including famous Chinese and Indian dishes. The Ramadan buffet has been issued a halal certificate so guests can enjoy it without hesitation.

"There is also a special prayer room that can accommodate up to 300 people at a time and our Ramadan buffet does not only offer food but also provides a variety of religious activities including by tahfiz children," he said.

Guests who come for the Ramadan buffet to break their fast can perform their Maghrib, Terawih and Isyak prayers in the prayer room, adding that an imam would also be available.

Guests are also welcome to participate in the tazkirah session held every Friday and Saturday, he added.

Mohammed Iqbal said there will also be live performances by the group,  P.Ramlee and Friends,  who will keep guests entertained during the Ramadan month with songs by the late Tan Sri P.Ramlee.

He said the Ramadan buffet will run from March 13 to April 5 and the food will be served in an open-air area near the swimming pool on the ground floor where visitors can enjoy the food surrounded by a luxury hotel with luxurious Moroccan architecture and decoration concept.

"During the fasting month last year, we received 15,000 visitors who came to enjoy the Ramadan buffet at the hotel and this year, our target is to get double the number," he said.

He said the Ramadan buffet promotional voucher for early birds can be purchased for RM98 per pax for adults (normal price is RM118), senior citizens (RM88) and children (RM78) and reservations or inquiries can be made by calling 6012-278 6379 or 6017-268 7139.
