KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 15 -- The Dapur It'am (It’am Kitchen) 3.0 programme has kicked off today in 56 selected mosques and surau in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan which will be implemented until April 11.

In a statement today, the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) said a total of 134,400 people were expected to benefit from the initiative comprising frontliners, cleaners, e-hailing drivers, asnaf (tithe recipients) and B40 groups, non-Muslim neighbours and other affected groups in the Federal Territories.

The programme, which was made possible with a RM1,344,000 allocation from the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP), aims to provide food every day for families affected by COVID-19 pandemic.

“About 300 cooked meals will be distributed to the target groups at lunchtime daily via the resident’s representatives or food-delivery service,” the statement said.

Dapur It’am 3.0, featuring the soup kitchen concept, is a continuity of the initiative which was introduced in the Ramadan month last year.
