MELAKA, April 1 (Bernama) -- The Melaka branch of the Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM) has been granted RM100,000 by the state government for the development of mosque cooperative societies within the state.
Melaka SKM director Mustafa Kamal Mohd Nor said the funds would be channelled to mosque cooperative societies via the MyBaraqah Hab programme administered by Koperasi Gabung Masjid-Masjid Negeri Melaka Berhad (Kogmas), involving 13 mosque cooperative societies within the state.
In addition, he said Melaka SKM would partner with Kogmas to support mosque cooperative societies lacking business activities through this programme.
He said this after a walkabout at the MITC Mosque Ramadan Bazaar here today.
Also present was Melaka Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (Angkasa) chairman Zaidan Abd Hadi who is also Kogmas chairman.
Meanwhile, Mustafa Kamal said Melaka SKM would host the National Cooperative Day celebration at a supermarket in Ayer Keroh in July.
About 25 to 50 sales and exhibition booths featuring cooperatives from the state, including mosque cooperative societies, would participate in the carnival to showcase and promote their products or services, he added.
