642 receive land titles after 14-year wait in Pahang

PEKAN, April 2  -- A total of 642 participants of the Rancangan Tanah Kelompok (RTK) in three areas in the Pekan district are relieved now that they have received their RTK land ownership grants after a 14-year wait.

Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the RTK projects involved were in Kampung Serambi, Padang Rumbia and Pulau Rumput, which are located in the Bebar state constituency.

"Today we presented to 470 people, the rest will be handed over on April 10 and this initiative is one of the state government's efforts to help them develop the land.

“Fourteen years is a long time. I am confident there is room for improvement and we will look at the factors that contributed to the delay in presenting the grants,” he told reporters after handing over the RTK grants at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Convention Hall here today.

Also present was Pahang Science, Technology, Innovation, Communications and Multimedia Committee chairman and Bebar assemblyman Datuk Mohammad Fakharuddin Mohd Ariff.

Wan Rosdy said each participant also received RM500 as assistance to celebrate the month of Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri, adding that he hoped it would help ease their burden.

A recipient, Zainal Abidin Ibrahim, 76, thanked the state government for its concern after receiving the grant to develop 1.6 hectares of land.

Meanwhile, the Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felcra) Berhad Pahang Region general manager Nor Zahari Zakaria said that, so far, 53,530 hectares of land throughout Pahang had been developed involving a total of 23,174 participants.

He also said that over RM105 million in total dividends had been distributed in the three years since 2018.
