Masjid Kapitan Keling Offers Gifts To Children Who Perform Tarawih Prayers

14/03/2024 11:53 AM

GEORGE TOWN, March 14 (Bernama) -- The Masjid Kapitan Keling, in its effort to motivate the children of the congregation members to enliven the mosque throughout the month of Ramadan, offers special gifts to those who successfully perform the tarawih prayers for 20 rakaat (unit of prayer).

Gifts are awarded based on stamps collected in a special book, signed by the chairman of the mosque, Datuk Faruk Raja Mohamed, every time they complete the tarawih prayers for 10 days, from the first night of Ramadan.

The mosque secretary Mohamed Rizdwan Abdul Ghafoor Khan said that the gifts would be given to children who successfully performed tarawih prayers for 20 rakaat for 10 days and throughout the month of Ramadan.

He said the gift was given as an encouragement or motivation to the children to come to the mosque for tarawih prayers, and that the mosque targets more than 100 children attending the prayers.

“The initiative not only gives encouragement to the children but motivates them to perform the tarawih prayers until the last night of Ramadan,” he told Bernama last night.

He said that in addition to tarawih prayers, the mosque also held several other activities for children this year, including Qiamullail and tadarus (reciting the Quran) sessions, for them to appreciate the month of Ramadan.

Also present on the first day of the programme was Yang di-pertua Negeri of Penang Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak.
