Perak Attracted 2.3 Mln Tourists From Dec 2023 To Feb 2024

IPOH, March 27 (Bernama) -- A total of 2.3 million domestic and foreign tourists visited Perak in conjunction with the Visit Perak Year 2024 (TMP 2024) from December 2023 to February this year.

State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee said some of the prime locations among the visitors were around Ipoh, Pulau Pangkor and Taiping.

“The record we have is based on tourist arrivals (to Perak) from the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (LTSAS) and border entry points such as Pengkalan Hulu.

“From this, we are confident that we can exceed the visitor target set,” he said when met during the X Gaya Travel Media Bubut Lambuk Visit Perak 202 Programme at Persiaran Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh (MBI) here today.

On Dec 31 last year, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said they were targeting more than eight million domestic and 350,000 international tourists to visit Perak in conjunction with TMP 2024, thus generating about RM10 billion in revenue.

Meanwhile, Loh said that all complaints lodged at several tourist hotspots were resolved amicably.

“I’d be lying if I said no problems occurred. But we received all the brickbats with an open mind and, most importantly, we solved them in the best way possible,” he said.

He added that today’s programme, organised by Tourism Pera in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and local authorities, will see a total of 6,000 packets of bubur lambuk being distributed.

“I was told that this an annual programme held during Ramadan and I think it is a good way to strengthen ties with one another,” he said.
