LAZADA TO DONATE RAYA PACKAGES TO OVER 3,000 BENEFICIARIES
KUALA LUMPUR, March 31 (Bernama) -- Throughout this Ramadan, Lazada Malaysia is collaborating with two non-governmental organisations (NGO) for its donation campaign and social impact initiative ‘Membeli Untuk Memberi’, which will run until April 21.
In a statement today, Lazada said it would contribute towards a donation fund for Islamic Relief Malaysia and MyFundAction with every applicable order on its platform.
“The charitable fund will enable NGO partners to prepare and distribute in-kind ‘Pakej Raya’ sets, consisting of essential food items such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, canned food, hygiene products, and other basic necessities.
“This will be distributed to more than 3,000 beneficiaries across Malaysia, including communities in PPR, special care homes, and orphanages,” the statement read.
In the statement, Lazada chief executive officer Alan Chan said the campaign aims to inspire a sense of ‘sedekah’, generosity and kindness through the simple act of shopping on the e-commerce platform.
He said that Lazada makes it easier for customers to prepare for the upcoming Raya with various promotions for baju raya, grocery, digital gadgets, electric and electronic goods, home and living products and ‘balik kampung’ needs.
“It’s all about the convenience of shopping online and saving more with our value-for-money deals while supporting local sellers to optimise on the seasonal opportunities and encouraging customers to contribute to a good cause,” he said.
Meanwhile, Lazada presented the Pakej Raya sets to 60 beneficiaries who joined the NGO partners and media for a special breaking of the fast event yesterday.
In addition, Lazada Logistics vans have been mobilised nationwide to deliver the Pakej Raya sets to beneficiaries in Kuantan, Nilai, Kajang and Puchong this month.
In April, they will be delivering more Raya packages to beneficiaries in Tanah Merah, Batu Pahat, Segamat, Kuala Nerang, Melaka, Teluk Panglima Garang, Klang, Beranang, Lembah Subang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Setapak, Pandan Perdana, Titiwangsa, Kota Kinabalu, Keningau, Kundasang, Semporna and more.
Through the ‘Membeli Untuk Memberi’ campaign, Lazada aims to assist as many beneficiaries as possible and this is only possible with the kind support and participation from its valued customers that have contributed to the good cause, it added.
