Mobile Rahmah Sales, A Boon For The People
KUANTAN, Feb 24 (Bernama) -- The mobile Rahmah sales at the grounds of Kampung Pandan 1 Mosque here today, was received overwhelming response from the people, especially housewives, to get essential items at cheaper prices.
Housewife Nana Iswana Ismail, 37, said she visited the Rahmah Sales because she wanted to buy rice to meet the needs of her family which amounted to more than 20 kilogrammes (kg) a month.
"I have five children between the ages of 12 and two years old...the children are growing up and eat a lot. When there is a sale like this, we will indeed see if we can buy rice at a cheaper price.
"For today, I was able to (buy) five kg of imported rice at the price of RM15 compared to the original price of RM23.90. In addition, I also took the opportunity to buy fresh chicken which was sold at RM10 each," she said when met at the sales programme which took place from 10 in the morning until 1 in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, senior citizen Rohani Ismail, 71, who learned about the sales programme from a friend said she and her husband decided to 'visit' the programme to get items that can be stocked in conjunction with Ramadan soon.
She arrived at the venue an hour earlier before the sales open and found the visit was worth the while as there were various types of basic items including dry food on offer.
"We bought necessities such as cooking oil, condensed milk, sugar, wheat flour, sardines, soy sauce, chili sauce and coffee and tea. Items that can be stored for a long time.
"It's easy to stock up because we don't want to join the crowd looking for things two or three days before the fast (starts). There's also no need to be crowded here because the officers on duty help us to line up, besides there are tents and chairs while waiting for our turn to buy," she said.
For self-employed Faziana Kamarudin, 40, from Pandan Dua here, she stumbled upon the Rahmah Sales accidentally as her purpose at the mosque was to pick up her niece who was participating in a programme in conjunction with the school holidays.
Seeing the prices of the goods offered, she went on to buy dry food items and necessities such as laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid and bath soap to take to her parents' house.
"This is the first time I visited Rahmah Sales. Before this I only saw advertisements on social media but didn't have a chance to come because I was working or away from home. When I saw the price, I realized why so many people are buying here.
"You can save money and the products offered are also from brands that we actually use or hear about... just like the brands that are always bought at the supermarket," she said.
